NEW YORK, February 23,
A posse of sheriffs attempted to arrest thirty negro revellers at Tunica, Mississippi. The blacks opened fire, killing the deputy-sheriff. Volleys were exchanged, and the white men were forced to retreat, being short of ammunition. .. The negroes fled and the posse then tracked them, killing five separately. Bloodhounds are following the trail of the others.
The white men swear that they will kill every negro who participated in the affair.
