THE WEATHER IN NEW ZEALAND. The following reports from New Zealand stations were received at 4 p.m. yesterday:—

Wind —fr., fresh; m.g., moderate gale; j., light; hr., breeze. Sea—R., rough; H. heavy; S., smooth; considerable; M., moderate.

WEATHER FORECAST. Dominion Meteorologist’s summary and forecast: —A squall area passed in the south during Monday night, and northerly and westerly winds have increased in force. Gloomy and wet weather has been, experienced to-day in and southwards of Cook Strait, but conditions have continued fair to cloudy in the northern districts. Present indications are for unsettled, cloudy and misty weather, with rain in most parts of the country. The barometer has a falling tendency at present, but is likely to rise everywhere soon, and strong northerly and westerly winds change to southerlies then.
