THE MAYOR’S PROMISES.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sib, —Now that the City Council election is over, and our new Mayor duly installed, I think it is time for him to do something towards getting the Council employees a Saturday half-holiday. I am sure they need one as well as the factory hands. Mr George said before the election that he was going to try and do all sorts of things, notably getting the rubbish removed from the side channels, which he said in the past had been allowed to accumulate through neglect of the Councillors to have it removed. And then he went on to say that the horses kicked it back into the gutters again. Now, I hope he will act up to his promises before the election, and get the filth removed from seme of the back streets, as I may say some are very dirty at present, notably Tuam street, and then I am quite sure he will please all classes of the community.—l am, &0., BRUNO.
