CUST ROAD BOARD.

TO THE EDITOR. Sik, —The members of the above body at the beginning of last year called for applications for the position of Clerk, and a suitable man was appointed. A few months later the schedule of duties was revised and an increase of pay decided on. The latest decision of the Board is that the offices of Clerk, Poundkeeper and Ranger are to be amalgamated. May I suggest to the Board the folly of such a, proposal, as there are only one or two people who wonld think of accepting the despised position of Banger, consequently the prospect of having a competent Clerk ia very remote.—l am, &c,, OUST RATEPAYER.
