LANCASTER PARK v. MIDLAND 0,0. The return match between these clubs, commenced on Saturday, was not otherwise remarkable than for the complete collapse of the Lancastrians at the outset. Barely has a smaller score than theirs been made in a dab match of any importance in Christchurch. The first fire wickets fell for Iff runs, and only 7 marked the difference between the totals at the fall of the sixth and ninth. Messrs Fuller and Atack bowled well, and the wicket was against -coring, but that hardly accounted for the batsmen playing round yorkers, using a cross bat and so forth. Mr Fowke, it should be mentioned, kept wickets very well. In the absence of Mr Longden the L.P C. were short of a mac. The Midland score was not large, as will be seen from the figures given below. Probably the bad wicket told against them also. They were unfortunate, too, in losing their best mac, Mr Strange, who was run out when he was well set and playing a good game Mr Atack’s innings was noticeable for an oildrive for a dean six. The Lancastrians fielded briskly, and, aided by the bad wicket, kept the runs down well. Next Saturday the match will be continued, and, if posublefinished. Score, so far : LANCASTEB PA3K.
