SCHOOL COMMITTEES
LINCOLN. The monthly meeting of the Lincoln School Committee was held on Wednesday, Jan. 4 ; present—Messrs B«vell, 'laylor, and Wolfe. Correspondence wan read:—From—(l.) The Becretary of the Board of Education, re the election of two membera of the Board ; (2.) Matter's report; (3.) Mr Watkins, applying for me of schoolroom for concert and dance; (4.) Secretary Masonic Lodge, making similar application for the purpose of holding the annual meeting on Jan. 20. It was resolved —" (1.) That the nomination of two members of the Board be left till after the election of the new Committee; (2.) That the master be authorised to procure a est of Templeton's pictorial alphabet sheets; (3.) That the use of the schoolroom be granted to Mr Watkins on the usual terms; (4.) That the request of the Secretary of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge be alto acceded to; (5.) That the school be closed for harvest holidays on Jan. 20; (6.) That Mr Taylor be authorised to obtain and pat up hat pegs in the porch, and attend to other matters mentioned in the master's report; (7.) That the sum of £l2 be expended in prizes, and that the master, in conjunction with Messrs Teakleand Taylor, be requested to select the same."—Some small accounts, amounting to £6 Is lid, having been passed for payment, the Committee adjourned. ELGIN. The usual monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Wednesday; present —Messrs J. Stanley Bruce (Chairman), John Cochrane, and S. Scott. The applications for appointment of master were read, together with the correspondence. Mr J. Cochrane proposed, and Mr Samuel Scott seconded—'"That the Chairman forward the applications received for appointment of teachers to the Board of Education, with a request that the Board be so good as to select a master and mistress on behalf of the Committee." It was further resolved that the Committee name Messrs W. Montgomery and C» C. Bowen fcr reelection on the Board of Education. Eesolved—" That Mr W. B. Boyle be req-estad to andit the accounts for the past year." Besolved salaries, £ls, and incidentals, lis 7d, be passed for payment." The Committee then adjourned.
