[Pbb Pbbss Association.] NEW SOUTH WALES. H-DN_Y, Deo. 29. In a speooh at a banquet josterday, Sir H. Parkes spoke in a very sanguine manner of the prospects of Sydney. During the next decade, he prophesied, the city would make rapid progress. He intimated that the Ministry had extensive scheme* for beautifying and extending the city bounds, whioh would ultimately include North Shore. He stated that the preliminary stops have been initiated for a bridge to North hhore, and that the reoent action of Government, in ordering the pulling down of old teneraonte, was a first step towards the improvement of the city. He alluded to 'the recent traneference of tho Wolverine to the Colony, as a froo gift to Government, whioh they fully appreciated ; and spoke in high terms of Commodoro Wilson, to whom ho believed they were indebted for the present. Ho announood his intention to inquire fully into the present working of the immigration scheme in London. Mr Forster has been ohargod with tho administration of tho new Licensing Act. VIOTORTA. The Sydnoy crioketers were banquetted by the Victorian Cricketers' Association on Dec. 28. The Harbour Trust has decided to mako a considerable extension of wharfage on tho Yarra Lanks. A heavy storm on Dec. 28 caused considerable damage to property. The pavilion, where the Go-as-you-please tournament is proceeding, was blown down, and a boat oapeized in the harbour. Tho Cotopoxi was detained in consequence of the stress of weather. The tent at Queensoliffe, where a religious meeting is taking place, was blown down. The wind lulled at sunset.
