ROAD BOARDS.

ASHLGBY. A special meeting of this Board was held at the Road Board offios, Ashley, on Thursday, Deo. 29; < present—Messrs Nioholls, Dick and Oroft.—ln the absence of Mr Cunningham, Mr Nioholls wee voted to the chair.—-A letter was read from Mr J. A. Cunningham stating that he was unable to attend the Board meeting owing to pressure of business.—A letter was read from MrG. B. Herons protesting against a proposal to alter the line of road from the No. 2 road to a line through sections No. 88279 and 83278, and hoping that if the Boturd entertain such a proposal that he be given full notice of tho same. , It was decided that if a proposal is made to deviate from the road line, as laid off, Mr Herout will get due notice of the same, and hie protest will be considered.—From Mr J. 8. Buxton, requesting tbe Board to give him access to his property near Mount Grey. Consideration was deferred for tho present. The Clerk's report was road and considered.— In reference to Mr Brown’* application W get the drain widened and deepened from reserve No. 2236, on to drain at Happy Valley; deferred for the present.—Drain at Happy Valley, east of bridge at Beard’s road, to be carried out as in the report.—Culvert on road' to Ashley, from the Birch Hill road, near to 'Mount Thomas creek bridge; the drain to be deepened and widened if necessary.—The Clerk was instructed to get the soft part of road north-west of pile bridge, Hay land, clayed. Tenders were opened for work advertised, and one accepted.—The Clerk reported that he had ordered the necessary supply of dog collars for 1882. —It was resolved that the dog registration fee remain os at present, and that there bo no exemptions. —lt was decided that ths recreation reserve be let for three years, and that tenders be called for the same.—lt was resolved that Ur W. 0. Nioholls be appointed Beturning-Officer for the annual election to be held on Jan. 6, 1682.—The Clerk was instructed, to get the thistles cleared off the main road, and also some minor works done.—Accounts amounting to £214 4a were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
