CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS.

Yesterday tho majority of the butrhsr# of, Christchurch had a mow than usually attractive display of prims meat in honour of tho approaching Christmas. Several of the shop* were decorated with evergreen* and flower*, in tome instances with a very pretty effect. Tho show of meat was not large, on account of the impossibility of keeping it sweet in the hot weather. What meat was shown, however, was of prime quality. Messrs Qreig and Moore had some Irst-olais beef grased by Mr John Maofariane, of Coldstream, and some very good Southdown mutton and lamb bred by Mr Rogers, of Templeton. Mr U. B. Lace displayed a floe bullock bred by Mr R. M. Morton, of Stoneyhurst, and a splendid calf from Mr Chapman’s paddocks at Hills* borough. Some lamb of Mr Qarforth’s breeding was also worth noticing. Messrs Langdon and Judge's shop contained a number of nice lambs bred by Mr Hurst, and some magnificent beef from Messrs Kinley and Hurst's, Kuiapoi. They also showed a couple of carcase* of real of excellent quality, reared by Mr Beharrell. Mr 6. Bull bad some capital beef and mutton, obtained from first prise animal* bred by Mr S. Churfortb, and several fine lambs from the farm of Messrs Henderson and M'Beaib. Mr Koscwarnehad a good show of meat, the beef being especially fine. The decorations at the j •hop of Messrs Fox and Co. were, perhaps, the most effective of any in the city; the display of meat at this establishment was a very good one. At Kaiapoi the tradesmen aw striving to make their respective establishments have some appearance of Christmas time, for which purpose the strippings of the trees in the Domain have been found very useful. Several establishments have immense branches pro* jeotlng very considerably, so creating a cool spot'under the verandahs. At Bangioiu the butchers alone seemed to be engaged in decking (heir establishments.
