THE BICYCLE RACES.
to tub itnrroE. Sin,— Kindly allow me to correct an error which appeared ia Saturday’s issue re the three-nils baud leap bicycle race. It is there stated Mr Allison came in third, whereas I was the winner of the third prize. The error must hate arisen through Mr Allison mistaking the test lap for the test but one, which mated him to go round the course after th# race was really finished, mystifying many of the spectators and himself in particular- Throughout the whole race Mr Beard! —who was placed fifty yards in advance of roe—and myself kept about the same relative positions j therefore, as Mr Searell came in first, and Mr Allison did not pace me until I bod crossed the winning lino in the test lap, how coaid Mr Allison come lo third ? I would have entered a protest at the lime, but understood that tho judge* had decided in my favour. I may olio mention that tho one-mite bicycle race for youths “ under seventeen " was altered to " under twenty-one ” year* of age. Apologising for taking up so much space, I am, Ac, A. B. PIiKBOE.
