ANNUAL SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS.

BIOOABTON.

The annual distribution of prises at this school took place on Thursday last, and was attended by a large number cf parents and friends of the children, as well as by other residents interested in the welfare of the school. It was pleasant to see many old pupils, some of them grown up to be men ana women now engagea in the ouey work of life, testifying by their presence on the occasion to the affrotionate Interest they still take in their old echool. The proceeding* commenced at 8 o'clock with a senes of wellcontested athletic excretes for the boys, including lunaing and walking races, jumping, vaulting, gymnastics, &o. tor the girlt a variety of skipping contests and othsr amusements were imaged, and between these attractions the attention of all was fully occupied until 6 o’clock, when the school bell rang for tea, which was served in the playground to the children seated in a eemi-eirofe three deep upon the grass, under ehelter of the trees. At 8 o'clock the children were marshalled by the head teacher, Mr Williamson, and marched in order into the large schoolroom, which had been decorated in a very artistic and effective manner with flowers, evergreens, and totgrass, by the hands of the teachers and scholars. Here several part-eouge and recitat one were g ven by the children, alter which the Bev 0. Bowen, Chairman of the Befool Committee, distributed the prises awarded in the various clause. Of these there was a goodly number, a book being given to every child who passed a standard in the Inspector s recent examination, and additional prises (or special subjects, such as writing, musio, &o.
