The arran.-ement* for tho instruction of the atudent# and for affording them opportunity of practice in the art of teaching, appear to be quite satisfactory. The Chairman slated that the member# of the Board who would retire by rotation on llarv-n SI, ISS2, were Messrs Montgomery. Bow.-a ard Booth. SOUIIATS. It was agreed that the offices of the Board should be closed from the evening of Dec. 23 to Jan. 10, and that tho meeting of the Board on the first Thursday in January should not take place unless convened by the Chairman. MISCBLLANBOCS. An application from the Lyttelton School Go remit :ce, for an increase of salary for tho I second master, on account of the unusually braiv nature of his duties, from the fact that tie school was a mixed one, was refused. It was agreed to grant Mr Chisholm, who J had teen appointed to the Waikari school, ■which was not yet ready for occupation, half pav from the dale of bis appointment. An application from the Little River Bchoc! Committee, for the Board to defray the expense of certain planting, fencing, and gymcastic apparatus procured by the Committee without tho Board's sanction, was refused. Another application from the same Committee for the sum of £5, coat of a well, vres granted, sj it appeared the work was indispensable. The Green park School Committee wrote requesting the Board to sanction the expenditure necessary for fencing new ground, and levelling the playground and the erection of a chimney. The Board decided to sanction the cost of fencing and of levelling the playground. The Kangiora School Committee asked the Board to grant the sum of £25 for the erection of a wash-house and for repairs to the master’s house.

The Beard resolved that they could only grant the sum required for repairing the teacher's house. It was resolved to call for tenders for repairs required at the school premises at Waikori, recommended by the architect.
