THE CHRISTCHURCH THEATRE.

TO THB BDITOB, Sib,— News of a horrible and sickening disaster comes to us from Vienna. Several hundred persons are roasted alive from the banting of a theatre. Insurance statistics tell ns that the lives of theatres generally are of very short duration. Is it inopportune to enquire what are the means of egress from our own theatre in the event of a similar calamity P A possible accident is too horrible to contemplate.—l am, &0.,

[The City Surveyor recently reported on the theatre and suggested certain alterations in the doors, which ho stated would make the building safe. These alterations were at once made. —Bd. L.T.]
