PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON. NOTICE TO IMMIGBANTS. rpHE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT JL of Wellington will, in pursuance of the Resolution of the Provincial Council, be prepared to convey to each immigrant, (introduced under their Regulations) as soon as he shall have redeemed his Promissory Note or Notes, a quantity of land equal in value (at the rate of 10s. an acre) to one fourth of the amount of his Passage Money. For example : every immigrant on redemption of his Promissory Note or Notes, will be entitled to receive ten acres of land for every Twenty Pounds he he shall have paid on account of the Passage of himself and family. These grants of land will either be made out of blocks specially reserved for Immigration purposes in Small Farm or Agricultural Settlements, or in the immediate vicinity of Roads in process of construction; or the Immigrant may select the quantity to which he shall be declared - entitled out of any lands open to purchase as Rural. In order to facilitate the location of Immigrants desirous of immediately settling upon i land and of being employed on the PublicWorks, Reserves will be made wherever practicable, along or near each line of road, and will be laid off in Ten-acre Sections, which the Immigrants will be permitted at once to occupy, receiving a conveyance of the same as soon as they shall have paid the whole of their Passage Money. Parties desirous of availing themselves of this privilege in the block at present being surveyed in the Grey Town Settlement, are requested to make immediate application to the undersigned, ' who will give any further information that ma)' be required. Tenders will be received at this office until noon on Thursday, the 15th day of April 1858, for the conveyance of mails between Kaiapoi and Rangiora twice a week for 11 months from the Ist day of May, 1858. Mails to start from Kaiapoi on Mondays and Thursdays, half an hour after the arrival of the mail from Christchurcb, and from Rangiora on Tuesdays and Fridays, so as to reach Kaiapoi by 11.30 a.oa. AKAROA & OKAIN'S BAY MAIL. Tenders will be received at this Office until noon on Thursday the 15th day of April next, for the conveyance of a mail weekly "between Akaroa and Okain's Bay for 11 months from the Ist day of May, 1858r - The mail to arrive at Akaroa from Okain's Bay every Friday, and to return, to Okain's Bay not later than the Saturday forenoon following. No Mail to exceed 28 pounds in weight. CHRISTCHURCH & TIMARU MAIL. Tenders will be received at this office until noon, on Thursday, the 15th day of April next, for the conveyance of a mail fortnightly betwen Christchureh and Timaru for 11 months from the Ist day of May, 1858. - The tenders to state separately the charges of conveyance, if— (1) The mail to start from Christchureh every alternate Wednesday at noon, commencing on the first Wednesday in May, and from Timaru on the following Wednesday, weather permitting. ] (2) Or, to return from Timaru not later than twenty-four hours after arrival there. _ Except owing to unavoidable accident the mail not to be more than three days in summer and four days in winter on the route; (summer months to be considered from Ist day of November, to the 31st day of March ; winter, Ist day of April, to 31st day of October. No mail will exceed forty pounds in weight. &ENEHAL CONDITIONS. Contractors will not be allowed to take up at any place within I mile of a Post office letters or newspapers for delivery on the roadside without having them taxed at the office, and in like manner will not be allowed to deliver within 1 mile of any Post office letters or newspapers taken up on the way previous to then being taxed. But letters and newspapers may be carried by the contractors between places along the road which are more than a mile distant from the post office. . Contractors must undertake to receive and deliver letter bags at such, houses or places along the road as may be desired by the postmasters Contractors 'will be bound to proceed with mails without any undue delay or stoppage on the road after the hour of departing from the Post office. The Postmaster to have the option at any time of delaying the carrier for half-an-hour after the usual hour for the departure of the "Contractors will have to find Sureties for the performance of their respective contracts. Penalties for breach of contract will be euforced as well by deductions from the amounts due to contractors as also by putting their bonds in suit.
