From 16,000 to 20,000 Sepoys were beaten' by 2,500 men, commanded by a company's general.. The Ist Fusiliers charged' a battery four times and took it; -They were nearly annihilated. I believe fev6ry' officer was hit. The list of skilled and wounded .amounts to 1384 men and 79 officers. Captain Low, A.D.C., is herewith despatches. He says .he left 3000 -sick and wounded in Delhi. We expect a wing of the 4th here." The same paper says :— '. ; \'f We have' been favored with the"' Bengal Hurkaru' of the 15th iOctobeiy brought by the Daylight, arrived yesterday, but it contains no intelligence.from the N.W. provinces.. ,' ; "The steamers t Golden Fleece and, Thebes .Jiad arrived, and the troops they brought would be forwarded up the country without delay. When the Belleisle 7 anchored with."the 98th Highlanders on board, the Commander-in-Ohief, SiAColm Campbell^ -went on board to welcome the gallant regiment which had so distinguished itself at Balaklava.
