ELECTION OF LAY REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE GENERAL SYNOD. npHE Bishop of Christchurch begs to JL. draw the attention of the Members of the Church of England in the Diocese of Christchurch, to the following resolutions agreed upon at the Conference of the Bishops, Clergy, and Laity, held at Auckland, June sth, 1857. " . • Every licensed Clergyman, with the Churchwardens in the district, or if there be no Churchwardens, then with two Laymen, elected by the Members of the Church in his district, shall be Revising Officers for the fol- ( lowing purposes, viz:— 1. To ascertain the names of all communicants within their district who may be willing to attend, if elected, as Representatives at the first general Synod. * 2. To forward; the names of any such persons, if they can be ascertained, to the Bishop of the Diocese, or any officer acting by his appointment.
