Markets.
"There is scarcely anything to record in the -way of transactions in our local markets. Wheat maintains a nominal price of 10s at the mills, but little changes hands to justify this quotation. Flour is purchasable at £25 on the plains, but in this also there is nothing doing except for consumption. Lyttelton maintains its usual advance upon Christchurch prices. The following are the retail prices now current in towns:—
Chuistchixrch.—Flour, 25s per lOOBs.; bran, Is; sharps. Is 6d per bushel of 201b5.; Bread, Is per 4Tfc loaf; eggs, Is 6d per doz.; butter, (fresh) Is 6d; do., (salt) Is 4d; cheese, (new) lid; lard. Is; beef, 6d and 7d; mutton, 4d to 6d; veal, Sd; candles, lOd per ft.
Ltxteltqn.—Elour, 28s per lOOlfes.; bread, Is 3d per 4ib loaf; eggs, 2s per doz.; butter, (fresh) Is ScL; do., (salt) Is 6d; cheese, (old) Is2d; do., (new) l&- lard. Is 2d; beef, 7d and Sd; niution, 5d and ,£dj veal, 9d; pork, 9d; candles, Is ;per 18.
Kaiapoi.—"Flour, 26s per lOOffis; butter, (fresh) ■,1s 9d; do., (salt) is.Sd; beef, 6dand 7d; mutton, 4dto 6d; pork,fid and 7d; lard, Is; candles, Is per 16; timber, 26s and 21s per 100 ft., delivered on the river.
