Companion of the' Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colotiy'of New Zealand, &c, &ci bearing date the fourteenth day fof July, in thl year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, hath been directed to me/HenrJ Arthur Scott, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the Heathcote District, requiring and commandf ing me to cause to be elected by the.voters dulyqualified for-that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, four legally qualified persons to serve as Members of the Provincial "Council for the said Heathcote District: Now, therefore, I, the said Henry Arthur Scott," do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give Notice that a Publib Meeting of the Electors of the Heathcote Dialtrict will be holden at Christchurch Quay, oi Thursday the 'sth" "day of next, at noon, for; the purpose of nominating four persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the said Heathcote District; and, in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Friday, the 6th day of November next, at Christchurch Quay, and at Mr: Archer's house, Lower Lincoln Road. District, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as a' Member of the Provincial Council | for the said Rakaia District: Now, therefore, I, the said George Arthur Emilius Ross, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give Notice that a Public' Meeting of the Electors *■ of the RakaiaDistriet will-be held in the Woolshed, Waireka Station, on Monday, the 2nd day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Rakaia District ; and, in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Tuesday the 3rd day of November next, at the following polling places, viz:— - ' At Mr. E. Now, therefore, I, the said James Townsend, jun., Returning Officer for the said Ashley District, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a publip meeting of the electors of the said Ashley District will be holden at Mr. Torlesse's Woolshed, Fernside, Mairaki Downs, on Monday the 2nd day of November next, at noon, for, the purpose of nominating one person to serve as Member of the. Provincial Council for the said Ashley District ; and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Tuesday the 3rd day of November next, at Mi*. Torlesse's Woolshed, at Fernside, Mairaki Downs,*md at the Woolshed, Teviotdale.
