"TTTHEIREAS a Writ under the hand of \y Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire, ; Companion of the most honourable Order of the f ßath, ; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over: the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &c.,. bearing date the Fourteenth day of July, in the Year of our Lord One-Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-seven, hath been directed to me, Robert Latter, as Returning Officer for the town of Lyttelton, requiring and commanding me to cause' to be elected, by the voters duly qualified forjthat purpose, freely arid indifferently, arid in mariner and form by law prescribed, four1 legally qualified persons to serve as members of the Provincial Council for the said- town of Lyttelton Now therefore I, the said Robert Latter, Returning-Officer for the " said town of Lyttelton, do hereby, in pursuance of,the..said recited writ, give, notice that a Public Meeting of the .Electors of the said town.of Lyttelton will be holden at the Court House, Lyttelton, on Monday, the 2nd day of November riext, at Noon, for the purpose of nominating four persons to serve as members of the Provincial Council for the said town of Lyttelton; and,"in the event" of a poll being demanded.for. the.candidates_or any of them, such polling shall take .place on, Tuesday, the 3rd-day of November next, at the Court House, at Lyttelton.
