NOTICE. PROVINCE OJF CANTERBTJBY TO WIT. HEATHCOTE DISTRICT. WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire. Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, &c., &c, bearing date the fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, hath been directed to me, Henry Arthur Scott, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the Heathcote District, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form bylaw prescribed, four legally qualified persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the said Heathcote District: Now, therefore, I, the said 'Henry Arthur Scott, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give Notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Heathcote District will be holden at Christchureh Quay, on Thursday the sth day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating four persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the said Heathcote District; and, in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Saturday,the 7th day of November j next, at Christchureh Quay, and at Mr. Archer's house, Lower Lincoln Road. The Voting to commence at any time after 9 o'clock, a.m., of the said 7th day of November, and to close at 4 o'clock, p.m., of the same day. HENRY ARTHUR SCOTT, September 12,1857. Returning Officer. "TTTHEREAS a Writ, under the hand v of Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of N.ew Zealand, &c, &c, bearing date the fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven, has been directed to me, George Arthur Emilius Ross, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the Rakaia District, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified 'person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Itakaia District: Now, therefore, I, the said George Arthur Emilius Ross, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give Notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Rakaia District will be held in the Woolshed, Waireka Station, on Monday, the 2nd day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Rakaia District ; and, in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Tuesday the 3rd day of November next, at the following polling places, viz:— At Mr. E. Chapman's Station, on the Rakaia, and at the Woolshed, Waireka Station, on the Wai-aniwa-niwa Creek. I hereby give notice that the List of Claims to Vote for the Rakaia District has been made up and posted at my Station^ Waireka, on the Wai-aniwa-niwa Creek, and that all objections thereto will be heard and determined by me on Tuesday, the 28th day of September.
