TARANAKI.
"The only news from Taranaki is the proroguing of the Council on the 12th and the following alleged discovery of Gold. : Gold .-—We yesterday saw a small specimen of scale Gold said to be found by a sawyer named Jones, in the immediate vicinity of the town. The sample is pronounced by an experienced judge to be of the richest description, and we trust that sufficient inducement will be held out to the discoverer to make known the place from whence the specimen was obtained.—Herald.
