DIRECTIONS FOR CURING SHEEPSKINS.

We are requested by Messrs. Waittand Co,, to publish the following important information to pKeepfarmers."."1' ; ;,'.. : . ,: . ■ "Dry them carefully in tlie shade, not in the sun, by hanging them over a: stick or rope lengthwise of the skin, or as the backbone of; the sheep runs, picking them carefully out in the edges. when hung lip, and instantly cutting off the feet, which tend to,breed moth. Skins so .dried, naturally fold together, and are in the best- form for baling, by being put simply one above another to the extent of bulk wanted, and then simply roped near each end; they are , ready for transit either by gea or land without more ado! They have.'a..practice of first .scour?. I ing them, with hot water in Australia, which I don't approve of; inasmuch, as it 'destroys. the pelt and. loosens the. wool off the skin, causing loss. The tail of the .sheep should be cut out of the skin,.' and care taken not to cut -the pelt in flaying; above all, not to dry them in the. sun, but either in the shade or in sheds, if you have such convenient." ■$. ■ Messrs. Roberf; Waitt and Co. have received the above directions from England with refert ence to the .curing of sheepskins, and recommend sheepowners to attend to the same, as the exportation of skins, is likely;to become of importance to the province. .
