THE Provincial Government are prepared [to receive tenders for the establishment of a ferry over the South branch of the Waimakariri, at the cuttings opposite the New Ferry House on the North Road. The Government will provide: the contractor with a house and 10 acres of land on the South side, and -J of an acre of land on the North side of the river. The contractor will have to find a ferry boat, at least as large as the present boat at Jackson's ferry, together § with ropes and all other things necessary to keep the ferry in working order. Tenders must state the rates of fai-es for which the contractor will undertake to work the ferry. The ferry will be let for three years, and must be established not later than the Ist March, 1557.
