, The past month opened with a little more briskness in trade than had previously been anparent. The sudden demand for wheat, with the increastd price which resulted therefrom, caused a corresponding activity in sales of imported goods. When about the middle of the month, the.demand ceased', aud transactions in produce became of'less importance, the markets generally became flatter, and still continue- somewhat dull. Considerable supplies of goods of diflerent classes have been brought in during the month by the Dart, Coila, aiuf other arrivals from Australia. Stocks therefore are at present large, and, in a few articles, somewhat in excess of the demand..
