The Lyttelton Times.
Wednesday Feb. 27. It is with deep regret that we must give up all hope of Mr. Fitz Gerald's being able to attend the ensuing session of the General Assemblv nt Auckland. The loss of his services will he felt by the colony at large nearly as much as by this Province. Bu t we are sorry to say that in the opinion of the medical men who have been attending him in his illness, it would be madness in him to think of going to Auckland for some time to come. He is very much better now, but a total rest from business will be necessary to establish his health which..-..has sufferec". very much from the work yQ^ch has pressed upon him too heavily for iWtne time past.
The New Zealand Government Gazette, of the 9th February, contains a proclamation by His Excellency the Governor, calling the General Assembly together, at Auckland, on the loth April.
The same Gazette proclaims His Excellency's allowance of the Canterbury Waste Land Regulations, which are to come into force on the Ist. day of April next. As these Regulations have been subject to so many changes since the last printed draught was brought before the Provincial Council, we present them to our readers in the shape under which they have become law.
The English intelligence received by the Zingari's mail will be found in another column. The latest news, received via Wellington, is to the 19th of November, brought to Wellington by the William Alfred. We are compelled to deter our notice of Colonial news till Saturday.
