Council, their honors the Judges,- the Chairman of the Quartet Sessions, the law officers of the Crown, the principal officers of the Garrison, and the officers of His Excellency's staff. His Excellency on entering the large twll loom bowed to the assembly, and then, addressing the Chief Justice, said :-—

"I hare been honoured with a dispatch from the Right Hon. the Secretary of State for the Colonies, transmitting to me Her',.Majesty's Letters Patent and commission, under the Great Seal, reinstating and -reappuinting me to be Captain General and Govern or-in-Chief of this Colony, and I have, therefore, desired the attendance of the Executive Council, the Chief Justice, and other principal inhabitants, in order to an ohserviiiue of the public formalities required on this occasion.

" 1 have now to request tie Clerk of the Executive Council to rewl the com mission."

Chester £;irdley Wilmot, Esq., then read the' commission,'after which His Excellency took the oaths, which were administered by His Honor Chief Justice Fleming. His Excellency signed each oath as it was administered, which was countersigned by His Honor the Chief Justice,

His Excellency then said that the ceremony being ended.il would not become him to do more than thank the Chief Justice and the gentlemen present for their attendance, and to add that in the execution of his high office aud trust, he wouW do his best to uphold her Majesty's Crown and dignity,-aud promote the welfare of her subjects in this island.— Uobart Town Daily Advertiser,
