VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR.

Public Ball.— The last of the festivities consequent un ihe visit of the Governor to this Province was a Public Bull, to which His Excellency, Mrs." Browne, and the suite \v«re invited. It took place on Wednesday the 9lh inst, in a huiidui<r in front of the Royal Hotel, which hud heen temporarily erected for the occasion. The ball room which was lofty and spacious was very tastily decorated, being "hung with crimson cloth and ornamented with flowers and evergreens. The two ends of the room were graced with festoons of evergreens surmounted at the head of the room by the initials V. & N. and at the bottom by the initials N. <5c V. The whole was abundantly lighted, and when the company had fully assembled a amp il'ml was presented as brilliant as could have been witnessed in any county ball room in England. At about 9 o'clock the visitors arrived, his Honor the Superintendent leading Mrs. Brownn, and his Excellency the Governor, Mrs. l'iiz G<rald. Duncing soon commenced with the first set of Quadrilles—his Honor opening the Ball with Mr?. Browne. From that lime dancing in the various stylos of Vulscs, Polkas, Qiiiulrilles, Galops, (Sec, kc. t wns kept up till 4 o'clock in the morning w j t |, uninterrupted spirit.
