Province of Nelson, New Zealand, to wit: — TXTHEREAS a writ under the hand of ■ » J. His Honor Edward William Slafford, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, bearing date the 30th day of last July, has been directed to John Poynter, Esq., Resident Magistrate and Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Nelson, requiring and commanding him to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form prescribed by law, an additional member to serve in the Provincial Council for the District of Amuri; NOW therefore, I, Edward Jollie, Esq., Deputy Returning Officer for the said district, do hereby in pursuance of the said writ appoint Monday, the Bth day of October next, at Twelve o'Clock at noon, at my house, Mount Parnassus, for the nomination of a member for the said district. In the event of a Poll being demanded, I hereby further appoint Tuesday, the 9th day of October next, for the Polling. The Polling to take place at Mount Parnassus, and to commence at ten o'clock in the forenoon, and close at four o'clock in the afternoon of the same day. Provincial Secretary's Office, Christchurch, August 28th, 1855 "TVTOTICE is Hereby Given, that if any -L^ Immigrants who have given Promissory Notes in part payment of assisted passages to this Province, and of which payment will be required a year after the date of their landing, are willing to pay the whole or any part of their engagements before that time, they will be allowed a Discount as follows :— Within 3 months after landing, 10 per cent. Within 6 months after landing, 5 per cent. Payments to be made to the Provincial Treasurer, Christchurch. By His Honor's Command, Joseph Brittan, Provincial Secretary. PUBLIC NOTICE. "XTOTICE is hereby given, that the -L* Commissioner of Crown Lands is instructed to prepare Crown Grants for original Land orders of the Canterbury Association, for which Conveyances have not been already made.
