Atlantic States.—By the arrival of tbe Boston Light, from San Francisco,, we have dates from New York to April 12tb, and from New Orleans to April 14. Concerning some very alarming riots which had occurred iv Cincinnati, we extract the following : — A savage riot occurred at the election in Cincinnati on Monday, April 2, between the foreigners and Americans. The ballot boxes were, of course, destroyed at the onset; and which party elected their candidates could not be ascertained. Several serious fights took took place in different wards of the city during the early part of the day, but in tbe afternoon a terrific battle came off in tbe llth ward. The Dutch paraded with a loaded cannon, bidding defiance to their adversaries. They were speedily attacked, their field piece captured, and the fire turned upon its former possessors. It was reported that three foreigners bad been killed. One American was so severely wounded that for a long lime his life was despaired of. In the evening the Americans formed in procession, with loaded cannon, and paraded the streets; and it was feared that during tbe night tbe riot would be renewed with increased fury. In the New Orleans Crescent of the sth we find the following telegraphic dispatch dated Cincinnati, April 4th :— There was more fighting in this city last night, but it was not general, as the Germans were mostly armed and barricaded in their houses. The crowd reassembled at an early hour tbis morning. The military were under arms, and the Germans agreed to deliver up to the authorities before noon the cannon in their possession. In the riots yesterday, the cannon above named were used with deadly effect. Ten or twelve men are now reported to have been killed. The excitement was very great. The llth ward ballot box was destroyed, and a fraud bus been discovered in another ward. The election is-very close, aud tbe result is still doubtful as

between Taylor, the American, and Fame, the Democratic candidate. We subjoin the latest items of news:— Washington, April 12. —Il is reported here that Mr. Dodge will be instructed to demand of the Spanish Minister of State a categorical answer as to the purpose of that Government in reference to tbe future of Slavery in Cuba. Washington, April 12. —The Secretary of tbe Navy has appointed Mr. John Calhoun to the command of the United States receiving ship North Carolina, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in place of Elisha Peck, relieved. Captain Ingraham, of Koszta notoriety, sailed from Spezzia for tbe United States in the St. Louis, on tbe loth March. This will be first time he has been home since he became famous. The President is bent on war. A large fleet is fitting out to assemble in tbe Gulf, and then to cruise around Cuba. The best informed believe war will result. Sixty days will decide. Buffalo, April 12.—Several houses and stores at Port Credit, 16 miles from Toronto, were destroyed by fire on the Blb. Loss, 25,000 dollars.
