Gentlemen, — The Honorable James Stuart Wovtleyj having "resigned his seat in the General Assembly, I beg to offer myself as a candidate for your suffrages'. lam aware that I have no past services to record to justify me in taking- this step, but having resided amongst you for about three year,s, the least I can say is that I am .no stranger to you. ' If you think fit to elect me as your representative, I will pledge myself to attend the sittings of the Assembly ; and: when there, I will use my best abilities, regardless of personal considerations, to promote the welfare and interest of the colon}', and of this province in particular. The limits of an address will not permit me to comment upon many questions of political moment, but at a future opportunity I hope to give you every satisfactory assurance.
