NOTICE is Hereby Given, that ,a Register is opened in the Immigration Office at Lyttelton for applications for servants and labourers from amongst the Immigrants now shortly expected to arrive from England and Australia. All such applications must be addressed to Cattakj Parsoss, Immigration Agent, Lyttelton, aud should state the number of servants or siabourers wanted, the nature of the service required of them, and the place where immigrants may apply for such service. Persons desirous"of haviug servants or labourers hired for them on the arrival of any ship, must employ an agent in Lyttelton to make such engagements. HHHE Provincial Government are pre- -*- pared to enter into arrangements for the establishment of Steam communication between Lyttelton and tbe Plains in oue of theiollowing • ways. Firstly, by. the .grant of a bonus to any person or company who shall establish such communication, calculated on the loss • likely to be sustained. Secondly, by guaranteeing a certain rate of dividend on the capital embarked in the undertaking. Thiidly, by advancing a part ofr the capital required. Capitalists who are disposed to carry out the views ofthe Government upon any of the conditions above described, are requested to send in tenders to this office, containing full particulars ofthe terms on which they propose to act. HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified that all persons who shall henceforth encroach on the land reserved for public roads within ' the Province, either by digging ditches, or raising banks thereon, will be prosecuted, and that those persons who have already so encroached will be liable at any time to be called on to replace the soil so removed or to remove the banks so made.
