Leading Article was trained .for the Nelson races in 1853, and was the favourite for the Victualler's Purse of 3 miles against Mr. Redwood's celebrated horse Glaucus, and Mr. Newcomb's horse Joe Miller, but'broke down in the race'through an injury he had sustained in the Fetlock joint, notwithstanding, running a good second with Glaucus.
