It was stated thas Victor Beddingfield who was then "Captain" of the Salvation Army here and ran away with a "Hallelujah Lass" had been killed while playing in frontof a saloon in San Jose, Californa. That the statement was incorrect is shewn by an extract from a letter received by Mrs Beddingfield who is in Dunedin. A subscription is being started to send his wife to him.
