This Day. A well attended meeting of the Womans Christian Temperance Union was held yesterday afternoon. Thore was some matters decided upon with reference to temperance. Mr3 John Brame was elected president. The New Zealand Tinber Company are again in full swing. Apple growers are complaining of the ravages made by blaok -birds, in their orchards. Mr R. T. Booth held a meeting at Onehunga last night, two hundred and fifty blueribbons were taken. The Auckland Rowing Association's Regatta takes place tomorrow. Considerable interest is manifest. A man named William Thiis, a German, attempted to poison himself by taking Rough on Rats, he was taken to the ITospital where he now lies in a precarious condition.
