WELLINGTON,
This Day. The Election for the Government Insurance Board, resulted in H.D. Bell, G. Fisher, and G. S. Graham heing returned. The Cricket match Auckland versus Wellington yesterday, resulted in a draw in favor of Auckland. Wellington made 145 runs, in the first innings and 154 for five wickets, in the second innings. Au ckland made 224 runs in their first innings, and 174 for their second. The Auckland team left for home by the s.s.Te Anau last night.
RKEPTOWN. This Day. Shortly after eleven o'clock on Thurs day, a fire broke out in an unoccupied house at the corner of Broadway and Bridge Streets. A miner named Hugh Bregnan engaged about the Welcome Battery was found hanging by his neck in a house on Thursday morning last. The suicide appears to have been planned with great deliberation, the rope being well oiled to ensure no sticking. TIMARU, This day. A man named Denis Tohey was found in the Park at Temuka on Eriday morning, with his throat badly cut, a razor was found near him. He was brought in to the Hospital, where he lies in a yery precarious condition. It is supposed to be a case of attempted suicide.
