AUCKLAND,
This Day. Martin Swallow was discharged from custody yesterday. His Honor referred in strong terms to prisoner's conduct, and said it was sueh as to exclude him from all decent society. Paul Louis was sentenced to nine months imprisonment for larceny. A W ellington telegram states that Captain Mathers of the ship Opawa jumped overboard while at sea on Sunday last. The Hon Mr Buckley has been yisiting the Lunatic Asylum, Old Peoples Kefuge, Hospital, Training School, etc.
I There is nothing fresh as to the future moyements of the Hinemoa, she is still lying alongside of the Queen Street wharf. Considerable excitement was caused in town to-day hy a large manuscript poster that is stuck on a post in Queen Street saying that 50 men are wanted to proceed to Samoa, for the purpose of assisting in hoisting the UnionJack. A free passage and 8/per day is what the poster offers. A large number of men are now beseiging the Telephone Office. It isthought to be a hoax.
