This Day.

A foot race (120 yards) takes place to-day, in the Domain between Mr pickering of Auckland, and Mr ~W ood ofDunedin, for £25 a side. The Crimnal Session of the Supreme Court eommenced this morning. Supt Thomson, received a telegram yesterday, concerning the sudden death of an old man named William Pettit aged seveiity-four, who w as found dead in bed 011 the previous day at Port Albert. An inquest was held and the verdiet "death from natural causes" was returned.
