CORRUPT CHICAGO.
CHURCHES’ SCATHING CONDEMNATION. PRAYER FOB THE CITY. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 8.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 28. As a protest against alleged city maladministration In Chicago, the Church Federation has appointed March 7th as a day of public prayer and has adopted a resolution declaring the conditions in Chicago were such that the ballot box is wantonly violated, life and property are in a large measure unsafe, the homes of the citizens are menaced by bomfjs, and crime, graft and corruption are besmirching the city’s good name. Moreover the evidence seems clear that there is a partnership between criminals and some officials. This is made manifest by the hundreds of gambling joints and vice dens openly tolerated by negligent officers.
