SIX MASKED ROBBERS HOLD UP TRAIN NEAR CHICAGO AND PILLAGE
(Received Sunday 7.0 p.m.) NEW YORK Fcrb. 25. Six masked robbers this morning captured a train in a suburban district of Chicago and took complete possession of the train, overawing the crew and seventy-five passengers in true “wild west” style. In twelve minutes they had blown the safe open in the mail car and secured a hundred thousand dollars currency, and escaped with it in a>u automobile. The robbers appeared alonside the train when it stopped to let off a passenger at a station fourteen miles outside Chicago. Two members of the band went to the engine and hell r.p the engineer and fireman. Two others forced the remainder of the crew unto the rear car, end the remaimm; two hammered on the locked door of the baggage car until the clerk appeared, when a volley of shots was fired, out nobody was hit. These two then dynamited the door of tho mail coach, overpowered the clerk and obtained the loot, -it.-or which the whole six quietly but speedily disappeared.
