RAID IN SAMOA.
Landing by Naval Men. 300 MAU POLICE ARRESTED. NO RESISTANCE OFFERED. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, This Day. The following radio message has been received from the editor of the Samoa Guardian, the Mau paper in Apia: The Administration took action when a large armed force from the warships was landed at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday to round up the Mau police, and this object was accomplished. The Mau offered no opposition, but protested, though they submitted peacefully, there being no disturbances on the part of. the Mau police, 300 of whom are now under arrest, pending nine charges to be laid. Mau members expressed a wish to meet the Commodore of the fleet to discuss their grievances, declining to confer with the Administration. Mau chiefs exhorted the people to keep the peace. Marines searched native and European houses.
