BIG COUP ATTEMPTED. this day, 12.12 p.m. London, December 2. The plot to restore German Imperialism lias collapsed owing to secret service men overhearing a conversation on the telephone; Many arrests have been made in Berlin andl other cities. The Government has a long list of .suspects who planned to seize the members of the present Government. No direct evidenoe of the ex-Kaiser's connection with the plot has 'been found, but it is believed that the outline of the plot was brought to Berlin by two of his suite, who visited "the c|ity ostensibly for the purpose of talcing the mat tea- up. Lient. von Brthlen, a relative of the Krupps, controlled the financial arrangements. Mackensen is reported to ihave attempted to have induced Hindenburg to join, but the latter refusedi saying that he intended to retire after the demobilisation. The whole of the Prussian Court is allegedly in sympathy with the plotters.
