Levin School Committee.
The monthly meeting of the X/evin School Committee was held on Tuesday evening, those present being Messrs W. Thomson (chairman), Holdawav, Vick©lß, F. O. Smith, Cork, O'3>ono'hfue and F. G. Roe (lion, secretary). Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Messrs McKenzie and Broome. Outward audi inward correspondence wav- dealt with. lln the latter connection the Ediucation Board wrote (stating ihey would proceed with the ground improvements outlined by the Committee 011 receipt of £25 towards the expense, filiie Board to find the balance, about £50. It was decided to comply with the request andi forward "the a mo- | nut in order that the limprovemeiuts i could be immediately proceeded witli. The work consists in the main of asphalting the shelter sheds and addition- I al areas round tlie school building and . fitting iij> four bubble drinking fountains. Plans were also submitted for, a new | Incinerator for the destruction of rub- j bisli. This matter is now in the hands .if Messrs Harvey and Co. I The procuring of a price. and any , other information - regarding a -,ole for the school was left in the hands r.-f iMessiii Vickers and O'Donohue. ; The Ohairmaii reported that ibe Uilad :een advised by. the Town Oierk that lie Borough Council had. diecided to rect two notice boards for the pfflv.'. pose of restricting motor speed past the school. Frqm the information sup- . plied the Committee were of opinion that the boards proposed to be _erected would fail to achieve their object on account of their small size. It was left to the Chairman to endeavour to have more prominent boards .provided. The school report pre.sented by Mr ( Rook el on behalf o'l' the headmaster j showed' that an excellent average atten. ; dance was being maintained and additional scholars being enrolled. _ j Messrs Bakewell and 'Burns had inspected the school during the month but their report was not yet available. It was resolved that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr Mclntyre, the. iieadmaister, expressing regret at his illness and the Committee's 'best wishes
