Kirkcaldie Land Sale.

There was a large attendance at the Town Hall, Levin, yesterday, for tlic sale by public auction of the four freehold and leasehold • farms in the Kirkcaldie estate. The homestead block did not reach the reserve, and was passed in, the highest bid being £70. Tliere was good bidding for the 84 acre farm on the opposite side of Queen street, the purchaser being Mr W. Tantrum, late of Te Horo and for a few months past a resident of Levin. The price was £80 10s pe racre. •The native lease on Mako Mako road was bought in by the native owners and the same thing occur, red with the 340 acre leasehold on the Shannon road, the owner Mr ,T. D. Brown buying back the goodwill.
