POTATO PRICES ADVANCE. Wellington, June 7. The N.Z. Farmers' Distributing Co., Ltd., report: The potato market lias not been particularly active during* tlifc week; only within the last day have prices in the South advanced. There is fair enquiry at the present time for oats and prices are being weell maintained. Maize is still in fair supply with high rates ruling*. The ryegrass market is still dull with prices unaltered. Cocksfoot is still firm with a few small parcels offering-. Pig meals of all descriptions are still in short supply and high prices are ruling. Fowl wheat is still in fair demand and when sample is good there is a ready sale at high rates. Pork is still fairly plentiful and quotations remain firm. Eggs have been fairly plentiful during the week owing to large supplies coming forward from the South and figures have accordingly eased. Honey is still in short- supply and any offering, where of good colour, is realising satisfactory figures. Cabbages have been fairly plentiful during the week and where good satisfactory rates have been realised. Cauliflowers have been in very short supply and the prices have advanced considerably. Carrots have also been in short supply and prices have now advanced. Onions are fairly plentiful and selling at satisfactory prices. White turnips are not quite so plentiful with prices slightly advanced. Lettuce are still in good supply and quotations remain firm. French beaiis are now practically over and any offering have been realising big prices. Beetroot is still plentiful with low rates ruling. Spring onions have also advanced in price slightly, owing to the smaller supplies coming forward. Parsnips are still advancing in value. Marrows have been in good supply during the week with low rates ruling. Swedes are still plentiful nt low quotations. Tomatoes are now practically over and any that are still offering are realising good prices. Pumpkins are still in good supply and realising fair values. Celery has not been quite so plentiful with figures slightly advanced. Leeks have been in fair supply and realising _ good prices. Artichokes are still plentiful with low prices ruling. Rhubarb is still in fair supply sealing at satisfactory prices. ' Apples (dessert) have been in fairly short supply _ during the week with prices slightly advanced. Apples (cooking) have also been in fair supply and realising satisfactory prices. Pears (cooking) are still in good supply and satisfactory figures are ruling. QUOTATIONS : Potatoes, prime white £8 5s to £8 10s ton. Cabbage, choice 2s Gd to 3s 6d Cauliflower, 16s to 19s sack. Carrots, best (is to 8s 6d sack. Onions, ,£9 to ,£9 10s ton. Turnips, white 3s to 4s sack. Lettuce, choice 2s to 3s fid case. French beans, 8d lb. Beetroot, 2s 6d to 4s fid sack. Spring onions, lOd bundle. Parsnips, 7s to 9s 6d sack. Marrows, 2s to 3s sack. Swedes, 3s cwt. Tomatoes, 7s 6d case. Pumpkins, 6s to 8s 6d sack. Celery, 4s to 6s dozen. Leeks, 6d to 8d bundle. Artichokes, 2d lb. Rhubarb, 6s to 8s dozen bunches. Apples, dessert 7s 6d, cooking 4s, full case. Pears, cooking 5s full case, dessert 7s half case. Wheat, good whole fowl 7s 6d. j Oats, crushed 5s 8d to 5s 9d. Seed oats, Algerians 5s 6d to 5s 9d. Chaff, oaten sheaf i£lo to £10 10s ton. Dressed pork, 60's to 90's, Bid; 90's to 140's, 7|d to B^d; baconers, 7Jd; choppers, 4d to sd. Eggs, fresh 2s 2d dozen.
