A good story is being told of a resident of a certain Taranaki town who had been annoyed for some time past by neighbours' cattle eating a very fine ornamental hedge he had planted. With a view to putting a stop to the practice the owner posted up a couple of printed noticcs warning owners of stock that the hedge had been sprayed with poison. Now comes the sequel. A few days ago one of the band of marauding cowa was seen to lean over the fence and make a hearty meal of a portion of the hedge, and then as if to add flavour to the greenstuff, it deliberately tore down one of the notices and ate that.
