Prophecy.
I At the Gospel Hall last Sunday evening Mr C. H. Hinman gave a very instructive address on prophecy, taking for his subject: "The time of the end: have we. reached it?" Reading from the book of Daniel of the image King Nebuchadnezzar saw in a night vision he showed that a foreview of Gentile world power from Nebuchadnezzar's time onward was prefigured in the vision. From the head of gold down to the toes of this image was to be seen the deterioration in the value of the metals of which it was made, setting forth the downward trend of Gentile worldpower in contrast to much present day preaching that the world is getting better. Four Gentile empires- were Bet forth in the metals of the image. First, the Babylonian, in the head of gold. Second, the Medo-Persian in the silver. Third, the Grecian empire in the brass, and fourth the Roman empire in the iron. Mr Hinman gave a sketch <5f these empires, and referred to the dates shown in the Word of God, proving the inspiration of the Scriptures. Coming down to the present day, Mr Hinman saiH that a fifth empire could not possibly be set up because the Scriptures only speak of four, and the Scriptures cannot be broken. So that in this present war in Europe, Germany cannot win because their object is to set up another world power. But the Roman empire will be revived and we were at this point of the world's history to-day. That being so we had reached '/the time of _the end" for the leaders of the "Allied nations are the formation of a League of Nations. Mr Hinman is continuing his addresses on Tuesday; Wednesday and Thursday evenings of this week and they should prove interesting in the light of present day events.
