Ihakara-Koputaroa Fair.
The patriotic sale of gift stock, home industries, produce and the baby carnival held at Ihakara hall last week was a pronounced success, a sum of £400 being raised for patriotic purposes. In the weight-guessing competitions, the black lamb was won by Mr Higginson, and sold on account of No. 2 Baby, sixteen times at 2s 6d, twice at 10s and finally to Mr F. Kilsby at £1 12s (id; total, £4 12s 6d. A dressed doll was sold on account of No. 1 candidate 18 times at 2s 6d, and finally to Mr A. J. Mark for £3 ss; total, £5 10s. The following were the prizewinners in other competitions: Mrs, J. Rolston, 1 cushion; Mrs Forsyth, child's dress; Mr Forsyth, pot plant, pumpkin, 531bs, Mr Taylor; Mr Higginson, black lamb, lbs; Mrs White, weight of pig 551bs, guess 55ilbs; Mr Kemp, goat, 57 lbs; Mr Clements, cake (Red 'Cross) (l|lbs, six persons guessed correctly, Mr Clements winning the draw; Mr A. Kilsby, cake (Y.M.C.A.), No. 57 drew the cake; Mr Olivecrona, cake, weight of cake i,nd basket was slbs l2£ozs. ACKNOWLEDGMENT. The Executive* which managed the Fair wish to take this opportunity of thanking all the donors of produce and home industries which came forward as it is almost impossible to list every article correctly, and tender their sincere thanks to all who gave assistance in* making the Ihakara-Koputaroa Patriotic effort the splendid success that was achieved. The workers all laboured with splendid spirit and the purchasers were lavish _ witH their money, the result being a splendid sale. The final figures in the Baby Carnival will be announced at a social gathering to be held at the Ihekara Hall on Thursday
night next when a small presen tation will be made to each o: f the four candidates in recognii tion of their services in assistthe raising of funds. The final balance-sheet of the whole Fair will be published in about two weeks' time.
