SCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

A meeting of the School Swimming Carnival Committee was held on Tuesday evening in the school for the purpose of making further arrangements for Wednesday's gathering. Mr W, Thomson occupied the chair and there were also present Messrs J. Mclntyre (headmaster), Bertram, F. 0. Smith, Vickens, A. J. Harding, H. Jones, Hammond Murray and Cork (secretary). Mr Les. Scott, of Everybody's Theatre, attended and offered to put on a special entertainment on the night of the carnival, and to donate half the profits thereof to the committee's funds. On the motion of Mr Vickers, Mr. Scott's offer was accepted with thanks, the proceeds to be utilised in improving the school grounds. It was decided that the ladies of the lied Cross Society be given facilities to have an afternoon tea stall at the sports if they so desire, the committee paying 3d for a cup of hot tea and biscuits for competitors. The prize list was revised and prizes for the different events allocated. It is hoped to get these printed in detail the evening before tEe sports. Mr J. Mclntyre's trophy, valued at £1 Is for the Old Girls' llace was supplemented by the committee by prizes of 10s and 5s for second and third provided there were five competitors. The Secretary reported that Mr Marryat, Acting Manager of the Boys' Training Farm, had kindly arranged to have the Training Farm Band in attendance for the afternoon. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Marryat for his action. . A sub-committee was appointed to arrange for seating accommodation, flags for decorations and the screening off of dressing rooms. Other details were put m the hands of the Secretary. Altogether the enthusiasm of the Committee augurs well for a successful gathering.
