Auckland Aviator's Death.
aeroplane accident,
Advice lias been received of the death ,owing to an aeroplane accident, on December 23, of Captain Clive F. Collett, M.C., of the Eoyal Flying Corps. Captain Collett was the second son of the late Captain Horace Collett, formerly of Tauranga, and for many years stock inspector for the Bay of Plenty" district, and of Mrs Collett, lyde Eoad, Epsom. He was born in Blenheim, Marlborough, in 1866, and was educated at Queen's College, Tauranga. After his father's death in 1902 he went through his course of engineering at Cable's foundry, Wellington, later on joining the Arm of Messrs Turnbull and Jones, Christchurch. He left New Zealand shortly after the outbreak of war, and in February, 1915, gained his first commission as lieutenant in the Eoyal Flying Corps. He gained hi scaptainey and rank of flight commander and pilot instructor, and through active service won the Military Cross and also had a bar added to it. He was wounded seriously on two occasions, last September having his left hand almost shattered. His mother has received news that her son was accorded a military funeral on December 2S.
