North and South in Agreement to Resist Shameful Peace. Received This Day, 11.45 a.m. London, Jan. 11. Mr Itansome telegraphs from Petrograd that an agreement has been readied between the Bolshevik and Ukrainian delegates at Brest Litovsk. Ukraine's independence is recognised. The delegates have decided to present a united front. The agreement ends the German's hopes of dividing tlie Bolsheviks from Southern Russia where food and other commodities form the chief peace objective. Lenin has departed from Petro. grad, either holidaying in Finland or conferring with Aust.ro-German Socialists at Stockholm. Before leaving he said: "I fear we will be compelled.to stop demobilisation and prepare for war. We will never agree to a shameful peace."
